Gaga's the Real Deal.

Lady Gaga is the real deal. When she first emerged onto the pop landscape with "Just Dance", I'll admit to thinking that maybe she was going to be another fleeting pop tart. A few albums came after, all of which were good. But a few weeks ago came "Artpop", and this album is great. Gaga's here to stay, and I couldn't be more thrilled.The great thing about this album is there's something for everyone-- more of each of the different musical sides of Gaga we've seen in her previous albums. There's the emotional ballad -- on her last album, it was "You and I". On this one, it is "Dope", which is 100 times more powerful and brimming with raw emotion. The song deals with addiction, and explores the matter of relapse in a very real way. It's mostly Gaga's vocals and some hardcore piano playing, which as a classically trained pianist, I really appreciate. For me, it is the best song on the album and I replayed it several times after I first heard it.Then there's the big hit dance-pop single, exemplified by "Applause." In true Gaga form, it's catchy, danceable and will most assuredly show up in a barrage of commercials and probably your local Zumba class. Thematically, it explores the topic of fame, taking over where "Paparazzi" left off. It's also Gaga showing appreciation for her fans--ehrm, "little monsters"--which are the centerpiece of Gaga's persona."Aura" is another one of my favorites because it sounds like it could have been ripped right out of a Quentin Tarantino film soundtrack. What begins as Spaghetti Western quickly evolves into a characteristic upbeat chorus which is Gaga's signature. Smart decision on their part choosing this as the first song--it's the kind of song that draws the listener in, and gets them to commit to listening to the rest of the album.If you do (and I hope you do), you'll also hear "Manicure", another favorite of mine. It's another classic Gaga track, this one featuring a fast clapping beat, and Gaga belting out lyrics that I still don't quite understand. Truthfully, after listening to it at least five times, I still don't understand what this song is about. But it doesn't really matter. This is one of those songs that'll find it's perfect home on a workout playlist, as its upbeat tempo and key make it a great song to run to.The rest of the album is also great, but the songs above were the standouts for me. I honestly think this is her best album, and that it most exemplifies the kind of music she's wanted to make. Any Gaga fan will enjoy it, as it's not a huge digression from her past works. Marina Abromovics and awkward performance art videos aside, this album is simply a more polished, evolved version of the Gaga we all fell in love with. Though the title may imply otherwise, Artpop is a little art...but it's mostly pop. And that's why I love it.Ver más

I give ARTPOP a 4/5....I will expect more from the Next album!!

1. Aura - 4/5 I found this song a great way to open the Album, its sounds like a transition from Born This Way! I like the culturalhooks and sounds in the song! I just dont like the beginning2. Venus - 5/5 This songs was and still is on repeat on my iPod, its a great futuristic song with a infectious Chorus!3. G.U.Y - 5/5 There are no words for this track, its sexual it has a catchy chorus, it has great beats etc 5/5!!4. Sexxx Dreams - 5/5 One of the best songs on ARTPOP, as i was listening to the album i could feel each and every adrenalinGaga was feeling, especially in Sexxx Dreams! Its a song that makes you get up and just do a lap dance to and to a person real or imaginary!5. Jewels n' Drugs - 2/5 This is my least favorite track off the album, tho it has some dancy beats, it just doesnt have an impact on me, i think its because i dont like Rap music :\6. MANiCURE - 3/5 I was a bit disappointed with this track because the iTunes Festival version was better, and the Studio Version isnt as powerful as the live version, dont get me wrong i love this song, but because it wasnt identical to the Live version, it kinda through me off.7. Do What U Want - 4/5 I have a "Hate/Love" relationship with this song. Its just taking a bit to grow on me.8. ARTPOP - 5/5 The title track is great and sounds futuristic like VENUS, i love the chorus, even though i gave this a 5/5 i liked the Live version better!9. Swine - 3/5 I LOVE SWINE, but again, the iTunes Festival version had a lot more than the Studio...10. Donatella - 4/5 One of my faves on the album, it makes me feel like im walking a RUNWAY!!!11. Fashion! - 3/5 Fashion is okay :\ thats about all i can say about this track12. Mary Jane Holland - 5/5 MY FAVORITE SONG OFF THE ALBUM...PERIOD!!13. Dope - 4/5 I have a "LOVE/HATE" relationship with this song as well, i have to be in the mood for it.14. Gypsy - 5/5 THIS SONG IS TIED WITH Mary Jane Holland, ITS MY FAVORITE OFF THE ALBUM!!15. The Pop Masterpiece of the Century

Well I must say, Lady Gaga outdid herself. I am a true avid Little Monster fan but I'll keep this as unbiased as possible.First and foremost, the first time you hear this album, maybe you'll think, "Why is half of the album all about sex then drops down to something emotional?!" Well here's the thing, Lady Gaga tried to show the "nakedness" of ART and POP. As you may have noticed, the first half of the album is about love, or making love. In my opinion, that's the Sphere of POP. Pop Music nowadays (some if not most) are about sex, love or lust which she wanted to show in the first half. She wanted to show the state of Pop Music now but still present it in a way that it's not too sexual or lusty as much as possible. The first track, "Aura", is about her showing what's under all that make-up, dresses, etc. It's like boarding the airplane, welcoming you aboard and greeting you with open arms. Following "Aura" is "Venus" or for the album, the flight to the truth behind the "aura". After that, it just develops into songs about love and making love but has that same deep meaning as any other Pop Songs out there. As you can hear, it gradually decreases the love part as it goes to the middle track of the album.Now, as you may have noticed, "Artpop" is the middle track of the album. It's like the song says, "We could, We could, belong together (ARTPOP)". It's about bringing the POP and ART together making them meet in the middle.Which brings us to the ART side of the album. This side will greet you with "Swine". At first, I'm not gonna lie, I didn't understand the meaning of this song until I kept on listening to it and doing a little research. As I understand it, it's about shaking of the man who wants to keep on having meaningless sex with her which held her from achieving the star status, which is a good track after all that "love songs". The message of the song continues on with shaking of the dark past. This continues on to other songs with deep meanings that, like art, you need to listen carefully to understand the true meaning of. This side is full of songs about becoming who she is today, and gaining the "Applause".This album offers different varieties of music. From Raps to Ballads, this album can satisfy most, if not all, the music lovers out there. To sum it up, this album is about the story of how Lady Gaga came to be if you listen to it carefully. From making herself vulnerable to the world while starting the career to the current state she's in wherein she can't live without her fans' "Applause".To conclude this review, I would like to encourage you to buy this album. You may just own the album of the century. Full of songs with meanings that are priceless. You won't regret buying this. The album Lady Gaga has worked on for 2 years really did pay off. With albums like these, surely the artist who made it will ALWAYS be remembered.*Additional Review: The Album cover is a work of art. I love it especially with the foil cover.

A Pop Gem!

I have to admit that when I watched Gaga perform during the album release I was left disappointed and unimpressed. The performances were loaded with vocals to the point that it made you wanna shut her up!!! Yet I still went ahead and bought the album with very low expectations...after my first listen I was WOWED!!! Without the excessive vocals, or the spasmic performances most of the songs were either amazing or impressive.In a few words, the album is an eclectic mix of style yet it has its own personality and voice from start to end. Neither Aura nor Venus are easy on the ears but on the 5th or 6th time you listen to them, you get them! it's the battle between the dark and the pop-diva/whorish side of Gaga. G.U.Y, is one is my favorite ones, it took me back to Love Game with an amazing game of lyrics that I still wonder why wasn't this one been released as a single. Sexxx Dreams is another pop-gem, simple, catchy, sticky.Gaga experiences with rap on Jewels and Drugs which I thank for since it was greatly made, yet think that whoever buys Gaga doesn't want to bear with these beats.MANiCURE, Do what you want and Artpop are all great songs that lead you to a climatic SWINE... Gaga really had me with this one, this is a dance /electronic song that makes you turn-up the volume and scream while fist dancing [even in your car]... "SWINE!!!!"From there Donatella is other one of those old "Fame" Gaga era... you would think that with such title the song would be cheesy, well don't be fooled, the devil is on the details, the track was executed flawlessly... the balance of the dialogues, lyrics, catwalk like sounds, makes it a fantastic song that I would love to see live.Mary Jane Holland is my least favorite, but it is a mood setter for the grand finale. Dope, Gypsy and Applause.Dope is the most emotional ballad Gaga's ever written, and the same emotion was placed on Gypsy, this one is Pop with sentiment, along the lines of Hair from Born this Way, but it in this case is not for the neglected but for those that struggle between the perfect love and the circumstances.Finally Applause, and I genuinely applaud.From where I stand this gem didn't need all the marketing frenzy Gaga put on before the release, the album was great! People just needed to make their own opinion about it without shoving in their faces that it was the BEST album of the century.For future performances, I hope that she does turn down the performances a slightly bit since the songs are great the way they were recorded.

Fun, but won't appeal to everyone.

I remember waiting a few months to buy this album because so many people were like "Eww. This isn't the Gaga we like. Eww it's offensive and yuck!" I don't listen to radio so the only songs I'd been exposed to were "Applause" and "Do What U Want" since they were used in TV ads for cars that hamsters drive and overpriced headphones. I went in with low expectations and ended up loving it almost as much as "Born This Way"."Aura" is weird and apparently offensive (?) to some but I enjoy it. I can see how it would annoy people, but not me."Venus" is also weird but has the catchiest chorus on the entire album. Love it. At one point Gaga starts naming planets like she's an announcer at a pageant or something but hey, it works. I'm also obsessed with the lyric "Don't you know my ass is famous!" Amazing."G.U.Y." Sounds like a song you'd hear in the background of an ad for a show on the CW. I skip this song."Sexxx Dreams" Wasn't into this one either. Another skip for me."Jewels n' Drugs" I don't like rap. This song seems like it would have fit better on one of the participating rapper's albums but whatever. I do like the weird chorus of "Don't want your jewels, don't want your drugs. Don't want your money, want your love." So once in a blue moon I play it and fast forward the rap parts."MANiCURE" is a fun, catchy song that randomly pops in my head. Awesome guitar work makes this song stand out. Love it."Do What U Want" I could write an essay on the brilliance of this song but that would be boring. Gaga isn't actually saying do whatever you want to me, it's more like "You won't use me for my brains or heart but you have no problem using my image. Do what you want with that and eff you." Now the R. Kelly part doesn't exactly follow that logic. It's like his part was included so someone wouldn't have to come up with another provocative, thoughtful verse for Gaga. Still a great song and at least R. Kelly has a good voice so it all works out."ARTPOP" a weird, mellow tune I enjoy but the "Free my mind artpop you make my heart stop" lyric at the end seems unnecessary."Swine" I've only played maybe three times, doesn't work for me. I skip it."Donatella" Catchy, loud, and seems a little like satire. I doubt that it is. A decent song but I usually skip it since it gets stuck in my head for days and drives me mad."Fashion!" I didn't like this one either, forgettable. Not for me. I skip."Mary Jane Holland" I would like this song if not for the annoying chorus of "Mary! ...Jane! ...Holland!" For whatever reason, I can't deal with the pauses and shouting but I like the rest of the song. Ends up getting skipped."Dope" The slow song on the album, a heart felt plea from one lover to another that they're needed more than dope. Excellent song, I don't know how any Gaga fan could dislike it. Possibly the best song on the album."Gypsy" Now that "Dope" has left us feeling touched but alone, let's turn things around with a super upbeat song! Hey, it works. This song feels like something left over from "Born This Way" (think "Highway Unicorn", "Electric Chapel", "You And I") but didn't quite fit in because it's a little more upbeat than those tracks. Good song."Applause" I hated this thing for a while, in no small part because of those lame hipster hamsters that drive ugly cars. By the time I bought the album, that commercial had gone away and I was able to reassess the song without thinking of the annoying rodents. Is it her best single? No. Is it a fun song and decent end to Artpop? Yes. Especially if you sing "Make it weird now" instead of the actual line "Make it real loud", but then again I'm weird.Artpop- 8/10. I may only play 8 or 9 of the 15 tracks but the strength of songs like "MANiCURE", "Do What U Want", and "Dope" make me feel like this album deserves a B. Plus, it's nice to be able to buy a Gaga album with swear words intact. That "I'm a free bit--, baby" edit of "Bad Romance" drives me nuts. I don't get the strange hate some people have for Artpop. It's not going to appeal to everyone, sure but why waste time hating it. A solid effort from Gaga, give it a chance if you're an open minded fan of her weirder songs. Yes, I'm four years late to reviewing this album but it was fun to do after reviewing "Joanne" which I did not like as much as seemingly everyone else on earth.

Artpop is a Big Pop of Melody and Fun

All the days, weeks and months before Artpop was released the anticipation and expectation for this CD was huge. Little by little information was leaked and Lady Gaga kept up the hints and interest. After all following up The Fame, The Fame Monster and Born This Way would be daunting and almost bound to disappoint most critics. These days there are only 2 artists that peak my musical interest in terms of what their next project might bring. And one is Lady Gaga. Now I don't necessarily like or love all of the music but creatively she is both fearless and tries to musically not repeat from the previous CD. I listen and love many other artists from many other genres but few have Lady Gaga's fearless creativity and willingness to do her own thing.Then November 11th came and the CD was a reality. I didn't want to listen an mp3 version of Artpop but a real CD. Now Lady Gaga has called this a psychedelic CD and I understand why. Unlike many other of her contemporaries (Rihanna, Katy Perry etc.) this CD could only be Lady Gaga's. It is uniquely hers and this is also true of Born This Way.After the first listen I had to process what I heard. So many sounds, synthesizers and vocals I hadn't heard before on any recent songs. It took some listens to truly appreciate some of the genius here. Also I thought that the music could be even more powerful with a custom version of the song order. After I re-ordered the song listing the CD became mesmerizing and brilliant. I know that Gaga had her own vision of the song listing but my re-ordering made the music jump out and I better understood the themes and content.So my order of the tracks include 13 of the total 15 with a remix of Applause that I acquired from the Japanese version of Artpop.Two of the tracks for me didn't fit the rest of the vibe of the CD. That doesn't mean they are bad songs just outliers. My version of Artpop starts with1) G.U.Y. which I think is my favorite track on the CD. It has a curious title (Girl Under You---G.U.Y.) and the music is catching and the production fantastic. The lyrics produce sexual images and physical sensuality.2) Sexxx Dreams which to me felt like an apt next track given that G.U.Y begins with a welcome message by Lady Gaga to the listener to this very sexy CD. The melody to Sexxx dreams and her vocal are excellent.3) The next song that fits this sexual triad is Do With U Want? with R Kelly that again oozes with sexual images but was written by Lady Gaga in response to the media who were criticizing her when she apparently gained some weight months ago. Do What U Want has a memorable hook and a very unique song compared to Lady Gaga's previous CDs.4) Artpop is next because I believed this began a streak of songs in which Lady Gaga channeled some great voices that came before her. On Artpop her voice seems to be channeling Ultra Nate and the song is like the heart of the CD and needed to be the introduction to the next section of my personalized listing5) Donatella is a fun tune written with Lady Gaga's most recent boss Donatella Versaci in mind. Again here she sounds a little like Debbie Harry in her delivery. This song has a great hook. Which leads to the next track6) Fashion!-- Here Lady Gaga hits the mark with channeling Debbie Harry like vocals and again the melody and the memorable "looking good and feeling fine," Looking good and feeling fine" stays in your head7) Mary Jane Holland is an ode to weed and Lady Gaga makes it listenable and engaging. Who knew a song about weed could sound so psychedelic. The catchy melody and images of the song are truly awesome.8) Gypsy is a song upon first listen I didn't know what is was about. But after reading about it and hearing Lady Gaga talk about it, now the lyrics make sense. A song about not being lonely and making the world a place to find a home. It is anthemic similar to Hair on "Born this Way." It has all kinds of Bruce Springsteen influences on it and it is the only song which Red One helped to co-write. The word is he and Lady Gaga wrote the chorus and the other writers helped to finish the rest of the song.9) Now Applause I believed felt right here to start the last part of the CD. Because it is a single it sounds familiar and a great start to listen to the most unique and psychedelic songs on the CD10) Venus is a unique song with its sampling and production. Some of Lady Gaga's campiest lyrics make this song a strange listen. But it is far better than the original song that she sampled.11) Swine is a beats monster and the lyrics about someone being swine along with the most unusual production makes this a tune that you have to hear more than once to appreciate the unorthodox approach to this song.12) Aura is perhaps the most unorthodox and fearless song on the CD. After much discussion, I never did hear what song was the sequel to Telephone with Beyoncé; after listening to the lyrics especially in the very beginning of the song, I believe this is the sequel. The beats and arrangement are unlike any other "pop song" and won't be everyone's cup of tea. This shouldn't have been the opening track in my opinion so I put it 12th on my custom arrangement of the tracks13) Applause (The Viceroy Remix) is a version of the song that retains some of the original melody and adds just enough of something new to make this remix the one I liked. Some of the other remixes are horrible and strange and don't retain the integrity of the original song.14) Dope is the only song that could be the final song on this CD. It is a subtle electronic ballad in which Lady Gaga wails about loving someone more than Dope. The emotion and vibe of the song is moving and heartfelt. Produced by Rick Rubin and I'm sure they will work together again in the future.Now the 2 songs I didn't include are Manicure which many other listeners loved and the idea for the lyrics are clever but the marching beat of the song is not for me. It didn't fit anywhere with the flow of the other songs. The biggest outlier was Jewels and Drugs which I can appreciate Lady Gaga's creative desire to show she could write and perform in the rap/hip-hop genre but the song just didn't fit or interest me.Overall, I think this CD is fantastic but it may take a few listens for the songs, production and lyrics to grow.Don't listen to many of the misogynistic reviewers and hateful critics who I believe dislike Lady Gaga and in turn hated the music. It is an unfair example of hating the messenger and then criticizing and hating the message.

My all-time favorite Gaga album — chaotic, bold, and brilliant

ARTPOP is my favorite Gaga album, hands down. It’s loud, weird, glamorous, and completely unapologetic — and that’s exactly why it works. This album feels like Gaga at her most fearless, blending art, pop, fashion, and attitude into something that still feels exciting years later.The title track sets the tone perfectly, and songs like “G.U.Y.”, “Swine”, and “Donatella” are absolute standouts for me. Each one brings its own energy, whether it’s theatrical, aggressive, or dripping in camp. There’s a confidence here that feels raw and unfiltered, and I love that it doesn’t try to smooth itself out for mass approval.This album isn’t background music — it’s a statement. If you love pop that takes risks and doesn’t ask for permission, ARTPOP delivers from start to finish.Ver más

Gaga the goddess😍

ARTPOP is my favourite gaga album! It's a masterpiece! I bet there is no album like this in the history! It's not even an album. It's like a different world in itself 😍 only one thing that the CD I bought from Amazon is censored edition 😂 the original edition of the CD is so amazeballs😍 but it's okay cuz i just wanted the CD to complete my gaga collection! ARTPOP - AMAZING

The most anticipated album of the year does not disappoint. Gone are the days of self empowerment from Born This Way. Lady Gaga is now taking on the topic of her earlier songs - sex. She also deals with the themes of drugs, the meaning of ARTPOP (Could mean anything), and her adoration for her fans.An electro explosion of quality music, this album delivers exactly what the fans have been waiting for, for over 2 years.The album takes you on a journey from start to finish.It starts off with the first trio of songs dealing with feminism with 'Aura', the first of two insane electropop tracks with no real structure and simply 'great madness' (an ode to the Burqa fashion), 'Venus', a song which could easily be broken down into 4 different songs, but still work perfectly together (emphasis on the Goddess of Love) then 'G.U.Y', which is a mid tempo electro dance song with a very catchy chorus, talking about role reversals between two lovers.This leads into 'Sex Dreams' (very sexual and sleazy), 'Jewels and Drugs' (a trap/hip hop fusion which is one of my favourites), 'MANiCURE' (a proper rock song with another catchy hook) and 'Do What U Want' (undoubtedly one of the album highlights - R&B infused with more electro).Then the mysterious, ominous, hypnotic title track slows down the pace. 'ARTPOP' is one of the best songs on the album because of it's uniqueness and the slow repetitive synths and beats which carry the track.Now back to the electro madness, and the second of the insane, none structural songs on ARTPOP = 'Swine'. Swine has such an agressive meaning that it becomes one of the best songs Gaga has ever produced. It is indescribable, give it a listen.Then the two fashion tracks play, called 'Donatella' (referring to Donatella Versace), which is one of the weakest on the album, due to the random lyrics. Nevertheless the instrumental makes it listenable. And 'Fashion!' the second of the two tracks, is much better, reminiscent of Beegee's 70's disco groove, surprisingly produced by Will.i.am and David Guetta.Then the finale, which focuses on her love for her fans, approaches in the next 3 songs with 'Mary Jane Holland', the infamous weed anthem which Gaga turns into a homage to her fans and would be a very popular song in concert. Then the album's main piano ballad 'Dope' which is a painful admission from Gaga which declares how much she loves her fans. This is followed by the closing track 'Gypsy'. Gypsy is without a doubt the best song on the album and the best way to end the electronic anthems. It instantly reminds us of the epicness of 'The Edge of Glory' and again taking influence from Springsteen. Gaga's vocals are so strong as we can imagine her life as a 'gypsy' with no home, travelling the world and her connection with her lover. It gets bigger and bigger till the final note. The best way to end the album.Finally 'Applause' could be classed as the encore of the album after the climax of 'Gypsy'. An electro filled dance song with a meaningful chorus, so simple yet so catchy. And with the final letters called by Gaga she completes the name of this immense album: A-R-T-P-O-P.Best songs: Gypsy, ARTPOP, Do What U WantWeakest songs: Donatella (still hasn't grown on me)

ARTPOP is a Gaga highlight

Fantastic album. One of my favourite from Lady Gaga. The vinyl artwork is great. It's a shame a version of "Do What U Want" isn't on the album, though I understand why it was removed. Still - the Christina Aguilera version would have been great.
