Brightness

I bought two of these 17 inch lights for my 55 gallon aquarium to replace my 20 year old lights that went out for good. These are brighter and better than my other lights ever were. I like the way the aquarium looks and the fish are swimming a lot like they enjoy this. These LED lights are also good for my live plants. I did some research on these and learned they should last 10 years or more. You can't replace any bulbs so years from now you'll have to replace the entire thing. That is no problem because they are affordable.Ver más

Great Budget Aquarium Light for a 10 Gallon Tank

I’ve been using this light on our 20-inch 10-gallon aquarium for about 3 months, and I think it is a great value. It fits perfectly, has a nice low profile design, and is bright enough to make the tank look awesome.I do like the color temperature and overall brightness. It gives the aquarium a clean, sunlight-like look and works very well for our simple goldfish setup. It was also easy to keep clean even with a little water splash buildup over time.The only downsides for me are that it is just on/off with no dimming, and the switch is placed halfway down the cable instead of near the light. But for the price, I think it is absolutely worth it.Ver más

I didn't read the description, my fault!

Light is exactly as described and fantastic and bright! Unfortunately I didn't read the description and trusted Amazon when I was looking for a 24+ inch BLACK light/GLOW light. This is NOT that. But that is my mistake for trusting but not verifying.THIS IS THE PERFECT PRODUCT IF YOU'RE WANTING TO LIGHT UP YOUR 30 GALLON TALL FISH TANK WITH WHITE LIGHT! It doesn't come with a remote, only an off/on switch, so it is easy to use! All you have to do is place it on top, plug it in, and flip the switch on. VERY EASY TO USE! The mistake is on me. A very bright clear white light with simple construction

There is now more light than has been in this tank for some time--I have been using a light strip on the hood that was somewhat dimmer and more yellowish for a couple of years. That went out, and I stuck on a pretty dim one that I bought at the same time that I think I took off because I thought it made algae worse---it certainly did this time, I was away for a week and came back to tons of algae even though I had just cleaned the tank out. We'll see how this one does algae wise, it clearly will grow plants better, although all I have in there right now are java fern that did fine under my other light. This bright light now makes me see that I REALLY need to do some work on my plants and possible try some new ones.I mainly decided to give this light a try because I could not find the other light available--although it was not as bright, I was fine with the one I had and simply wanted to replace it, no luck. The last time I bought lights on Amazon I went through three or four before being satisfied with that one. It was just a strip that attached to the hood with velcro. I also tried one of those tube submersible lights--it was OK but grew tons of really long green hair algae right on the tube within days. I am pleased with the light quality of this light--they all claim to be bright, this one really is. There are different colored lights included, but you don't see those, and you can't switch it to that night time blue which is fine because I don't do that anyway.I also like that it is just a simple set up, on and off, with no timer and light level or color settings. I had a difficult time finding one like this!! Most of them have one of the built in timers attached, and just wanted one I could plug into the timer I already have set up. And that's what this did, I just attached it to the hood with velcro, plugged it in and it was on. I really don't need a light with 50 million different settings and won't work with an outside timer. So happy with that feature and wish there was a better selection of lights without a timer.But this brings me to my concern. This light is much nicer visually than the plain light strip that I was using (and that is what I wanted but could not locate). It has a nice black shiny case that will look great--if you have a glass top tank and can attach the feet and put it above the glass. I do not have a glass top and wanted to attach it to the hood as I did. It is larger than the strip I was using, and not really ideal for this at all. In addition, in the product description it says clearly: KEEP LIGHT AWAY FROM SPLASHING WATER. I have concerns that this light is water proof and should not be above open water like this, but I'm doing it anyway for right now. There is glass over the actual lights but it is not sealed, and this will get wet from condensation. It says no where that this light is water proof and I am just not sure. If that is what you are planning to do keep this in mind. Right now I am keeping the water level somewhat lower, I may try to rig something like plastic in between the light and the water--or just get a glass top which I have wanted any way, this tank is off size and it would be a project I am not up for right now.This comes in a plain box with no documentation, so what you have is what is on the product page. If you plan on using this over a glass top, this is a great light and looks really nice as well. It is actually very bright, a nice white light that is going to be good for plants and seeing your fish well. If you are planning on using this in any configuration where it is over open water, you should be aware of this, it does not say that it is water proof or have any language that says so, and I have a hunch that it is not.

works great.

fit our 30-gallon aquarium perfectly. it's very bright as we have plants that need the light, I do like the illumination it provides in the tank just wish it had a nighttime setting.

Bright and Beautiful light!

This aquarium light is fantastic. It provides a bright clear light for my fish and plants. It fit my 10 gallon tank perfectly.My only complaint is that the on and off switch is located down a little ways on the cord.

A full spectrum aquarium light at a reasonable price

We got this aquarium light for the aquarium in which our two turtles stay during the evening and night. They need the full spectrum light. Previously we had one that was a hood light that covered about 3/4 of the top of the aquarium. Getting the turtles in and out was a challenge. This light only takes up a small portion of the back of the top…and it leaves plenty of room to get the turtles in and out. It is very bright and as advertised full spectrum. It is perfect for our needs. No assembly required, no remote control…so if you are looking for a “smart” light, this is not it..but if you need a basic one..this is perfect. The price is reasonable. I highly recommend it as it is just perfect for our needs. There is not a timer or smart features, but if you do not need those features this is the one for you!!Ver más

Disappointing life span

The light was nice & bright for 5 months, then 80% of the lights shorted out & the remaining ones are flickering. Strong start with a disappointing finish. As I said, it only lasted 5 months on my fish tank.

AT LAST

So Happy with this LED light fixtureFinally a Light Fixture that performs properly.I will definitely buy from this supplier in the future. Light seemed a bit less than expected.Then I realized that my aquarium is Very heavily planted!!LOOKS GREAT

Not good for a 16" tank

I have a 16" betta tank. I did not realize that this light is actually only about 9-1/2" long. The rest is just a retractable arm on either sides to hang onto the tank. The retractable arms are not very secure. When I did chores with the tank, the light fell into the water a couple of times. Water then got inside the glass panel of this light and the led lights started to rust. This light is not as bright as the other led lights because it has less white light to blue/red light ratio. I wanted more blue/red lights so I expected this. My recommendation is that this light is good for perhaps only an 11" or 12" tank or the light will be too short in length (not bright enough) and it will be too easy to fall into the water.Ver más
