Works well -- replaced a similar one that lasted 6 years

I bought this door stop to replace one that looked exactly liked this but when I searched for it to buy again it was listed at 20 dollars. I found this and it looked exactly alike -- even the mounting holes were the same. This maybe is a tad lighter in weight, however not much. With a two pack I would imagine this should last close to as long as my previous -- and for half the price a great value nevertheless. My old one just broke -- the spring mechanism fell apart. However, this gets used daily with three kids stomping on it numerous times a day.As for the utility, I bought this type because six years ago my oldest smashed my middle kid's finger in the door (hinge side) -- not on purpose -- but just haphazardly, not paying attention. Luckily no serious injuries. But I could see the potential for some serious damage to fingers. The door that this is mounted to is to our garage from the house and it is a heavy door that doesn't stay open but swings closed. With three kids plowing through the door into the house, this eases my worries. Easy installation, just get it in the ball park and the adjustable feet can do the rest once mounted.Highly recommend, not only for safety if you have kids, but also for bringing things in say from the garage into the house -- this keeps the door open. This came with some screws and a gasket -- I did not use either -- just reused the screws from my previous model. May want to predrill the holes before screwing in to the door, especially if you are going into a steel door.Ver másVer menos

Work well for their purpose, with a couple small gripes.

They work well for what they’re designed for. However, I do have a few gripes. One, the retraction is pretty noisy as the loose metal parts clank around and bounce on the door. It’s not terrible, but it’s loud enough that it could be an issue if needed in a quiet area or near sleeping kids. Two, the contact points where the lever and holding leg meet have started to wear after about two months, which was causing the retraction action to not work right. The leg would just barely raise, not enough for the spring to take over and pull it up. I was able to resolve it with just a touch of WD40 on those points. Not a huge deal, just be prepared to lubricate it occasionally. Other than that, it was easy to install and serves its purpose. Only time will truly tell when it comes to longevity.UPDATE. 4 months later and the second of the two I have installed was starting to jam up and not retract properly. A drop of WD40 on the contact point fixed it as well. The first one is still going strong after being lubed one time and hundreds of additional uses. For the money these things are great. I have no idea how so many people have issues with them, possibly user/installation error??Ver másVer menos

One of the most useful things I have every bought. Still is, and it lasts....

They are not at all hard to install, but I suppose that if you don't have any idea about what you are doing they might not work right. Here in this country house, a sudden gust of wind can cause several of the doors to slam shut hard, and it is more than just annoying. These little door stops work perfectly, and are very easy to get used to. You have to be a little coordinated to push them down carefully, but it's not at all hard to do. Releasing them with the pedal also requires a little coordination as you have to let them come up slowly and touch the door. If not, they make an unpleasant "bang." They seem well made and I hope they'll last a very long time. Even if they didn't, I'd buy them again. When you need them they are nowhere to be found. I couldn't be happier with them. We'll see what happens after a couple of years.Update:I was a little leary of somebody saying they didn't last. Mine have, very, very well---it's been well over a year of constant use. One has to be used several times a day because it holds open a door that a sudden breeze will slam hard, but when it's open, it covers a closet space, so it to get to the things in the closet the door has to be closed, and then opened again. Several times every day. With a a little practice, it is very easy to press the unlock button with your foot, barefoot or with work boots, and at the same time let it strike your foot or shoe to keep it from "jumping" up and making any noise. In the same way it's also very easy to reset again. You don't even have to look, and it can be done in the dark.Ver másVer menos

  Worth it!!

Omg the door stopper is amazing. Really good quality and durable and I had a handyman come install it while he was doing some other things and it took him less than 5 mins to get done. The white matches the door and gives it a nice look without sticking out too much. Really needed it due to the garage door wouldn’t stay open unless somebody held the door open and it was a pain bringing in groceries. It is very easy to use and would recommend this brand if you been looking.Ver másVer menos

  Good design, but poor quality

One of the stops that we use regularly has already broken and must be replaced.

Good but only stops movement in one direction

While the stoppers appear well made and the adjustable height is a genuinely useful feature, they seem to only prevent movement in one direction. In my use case, I have a door that gets blown both open and shut depending on the conditions. I was hoping this would have stopped it from moving altogether. However, it only really works the stop the door from swinging open, that is, in the direction of where the stopper is mounted. The door swings freely in the other direction. Maybe this is my misunderstanding of how these are intended to work but it was disappointing. Outside of that issue, I think these are good.Ver másVer menos

Keep Looking these are not worth it in the long run.

SEE UPDATE BELOW....So far these seem to work pretty well... they do have a few small small CONS though...Installing them isn't overly hard but they should include a template as marking the top screw is tricky because the release level is in the way. (I guess making your own template wouldn't be to hard though.)The only other CON I found was on one of the door stops the release lever would not fold down into position when the stop was activated (it would stay flat against the door making it useless) so I installed another screw in the door above the actual door stop to keep the lever and foot held out away from the door a bit. This helped make the release lever fall and it made setting the stop easier with your foot too because sometimes with it being spring loaded it would snap back away from your foot a few times before you got your foot on it just right to set.6/21/23 Update - Neither of these lasted very long. The little foot release lever has worn out on both of these after 2 months of use and will no longer release the main foot. At this point I'm just waiting for someone to step on the release lever really hard to try and release the main foot and for it to break off. Now I to have bend over to pick the foot up to close the door... Overall not worth the price I could have just bought a basic cheap version that does the same thing.7/13/23 - Seller did reach out to me and gave me a refund so while the product my not be the best the seller has great customer service.Ver másVer menos
