Small and durable rice cooker
Nice and easy to use rice cooker. Clean easy design. Non-stick material keeps rice cooking softly with easy clean up. Small size is great for space -saving.

Black & Decker 6 cup rice cooker
So this is only my second use in this product. I did notice that a lot of reviews say that the durability is trash if that comes up, I will edit my review but for now it’s exactly what I needed. It’s just me and my son I’m not allowed to eat as much rice so it’s a perfect size. I do wish that I had got the one just a little bit bigger for when I do want to do bigger things of rice but that’s OK. I just wanted to test it out. I do recommend that if you don’t like your rice so mushy to do a half a cup less than it recommends. The shut off feature is precise that switches it to warm after the rice is done cooking. It’s nice and fluffy once I figured out how much water to put to my rice to my liking I mean with any product you have to be careful with it. I’m hoping it doesn’t break because I do like it, but we’ll see what happens and like I said I’ll come back to rewrite my review if anything happens for now it’s a great product and I think it’s a wonderful addition to my little tiny makeshift kitchen.Ver másVer menos

perfect size
This has been great. It is the perfect size for one or two people. I generally do two meals at a time. i am transient right now and it is small enough to just in my suitcase. I use it for brown rice and quinoa. I've had no issues with the cooker or anything not being cooked properly,. Easy to clean, nothing sticks. I usually set to cook and come back way later and everything is coked and still warm, the warmer works great. I've never really paid any attention to cook time because I always set and forget but I do know it is faster than stove top and I don't have to babysit it.Ver másVer menos

Worth every dollar
I use this product very frequently, around 3 or 4 times per week.I have used it to cook rice and quinoa, as well as to steam cauliflower and sweet potatoes.This is the only rice cooker I've owned, and as such, I don't have anything to compare it to. However, I have to say it's quite nice. Perfectly cooks white rice and quinoa (the only things I've tried thus far), and the steaming function with the steamer basket works just as well.Now, I can't say that the issues I've had are exclusive to this cooker, and I don't even consider them to be huge issues.1. The steamer basket is stained orange from steaming sweet potatoes. Is that normal? I don't know, but it isn't a huge deal. It just makes me wonder if the plastic they used for the steamer basket is maybe a bit too porous.2. If you try to cook your rice/quinoa in broth, you are going to encounter a few problems. These aren't really problems with the rice cooker, but they still warrant consideration. The broth is going to bubble and boil off much faster than plain water, that means that it's going to make a mess, and if you use only broth you will undercook your rice (if you go by the directions). I recommend using the regular amount of water and adding some broth as extra.3. The cooker does not cool down fast enough to not "burn" the rice. I say burn in quotations because some people like the crispy rice. I do not.4. Not actually a problem I have experienced, because I have been avoiding it, but I have a feeling if you try to cook the maximum amount of rice that this cooker can hold (3 cups), you will definitely overflow the cooker as it boils.HOWEVER, the way that the cooking dish sits inside of the cooker prevents the liquid from damaging the electronics. I typically put a kitchen towel either over (to stop the splatter) or under (to catch the splatter) the cooker. This helps prevent messes.Overall, this is a great first rice cooker for me. It requires very little input or effort, and cooks the rice perfectly (minus the crispy edges).Ver másVer menos

Makes me happy every time I use it: Better than expected. It's great!
This rice cooker makes me happy every time I use it. It's one of the best small appliances I've ever bought.I *absolutely* would buy this again!It's the right size--fits on the counter, makes enough for 2-3 generous servings, easy & compact to store.It's flexible--Brown rice, white rice, sushi, rice+quinoa, rice with veggies, veggie steamer, rice casseroles/pilafs/risotto, oatmeal.Easy & fast to clean--either in the sink or in the dishwasher.Time Saver--no more hovering over a pot & tweaking temperatures to steam my rice properly.IMPORTANT: Follow the instructions!!! & results are consistently great.Only 2 gripes: The steamer basket & rice paddle. They're plastic, so I swapped them for a silicone spatula & steel steamer (personal preferences).Ver másVer menos

Inexpensive and Works Well
I decided to try out a rice cooker to see if it was a better way to cook rice than with just a pot on the stove. I wanted just a basic cooker, so I bought this one. It works well if you're just looking for a basic cooker at an inexpensive price. It doesn't have all the features more expensive cookers have, but it still does a nice job with cooking rice. The cleanup afterwards is easy. The only feature that would have made this unit even better would have been a timer, so I just use a kitchen timer.I haven't tried steaming vegetables in it yet, but I think it will do a good job based on my experience with cooking rice.Ver másVer menos

Simple and Reliable — But Black & Decker Cheapened What Used to Be Great — 3 Stars
For a small household this rice cooker does exactly what it promises. One knob, press down to cook, flips up when done, stays warm. That’s it. No learning curve, no complicated settings, no manual to decipher. For two to four people it’s perfectly sized and genuinely convenient.But I’ve owned the exact same Black & Decker 6 cup model in an older version and the difference in build quality is noticeable and frustrating. They took something that worked beautifully and quietly made it worse.The old one had a stainless steel inner pot and heating coils that performed consistently. The newer model runs slightly cooler, which means you’ll need to experiment with less water than the instructions suggest until you find your sweet spot. Minor inconvenience, but worth knowing going in.The bigger issue is the Teflon coated inner pot. I’ve had this since 2025 and it’s already scratched — barely a year of normal use. Once a Teflon pot is scratched it needs to be replaced immediately, and here’s the problem: there are no replacement pots available on Amazon. None. For a product this popular that is simply unacceptable.Black & Decker should offer replacement inner pots with options — stainless steel or Teflon coated — so customers aren’t forced to replace the entire unit over a pot that costs pennies to manufacture.This product has made plenty of money. It deserves better materials and better after-sale support than this.Ver másVer menos

Easy Appliance
We use this almost daily and it works phenomenally! Just follow the measuring directions in the booklet because it is slightly different than the usual ratio. It also is very easy to clean!

Works flawlessly as intended
This little wonder saves me so much time during meal prepping. It's also very simple to use. I follow the instructions and use the measuring cup provided, add the necessary level of water and in less then 20 minutes, I have perfectly cooked rice.I usually add a bit of olive oil and spices to my rice and it always turns out perfect. I use basmati (wash it first).Also very easy to wash. I use the sponge side to wash the inside by hand and avoid scratches.Highly recommended. Literally unusable in the country it's sold in
Why would you sell an item in the UK that doesn't have a usable plug? I've even bought a specific Asia/US/AUS converter but it's a specific plug with one large prong than the other that doesn't even work with that. Why does the product say NOTHING about this in the description. What a waste of time. Can't even review it properly BECAUSE IT CAN'T BE USEDVer másVer menos
