Amazing!
I was first introduced to this band courtesy of Pandora. I loved the song 'Chocolate' so much, I started hunting for other music by The 1975 and finally broke down and bought the CD. There isn't a song on this disc that I don't like. I absolutely love the Amazon feature that gives you the .mp3 files for free (with a ton of extra tracks in this case) with any CD purchase (as long as its sold by Amazon). It allows be to have the music both in my car and downloaded on my phone to listen to while I'm walking. I know most people just buy the .mp3 version of music now, but I feel like something is missing when I don't have the CD for a favorite band. Plus, my car only has a radio/CD player, but I still love having good old CDs.The CD was packaged very well and arrived at my house in perfect condition still in the plastic wrap that comes on all new CDs. The disc has played perfectly and is still in perfect condition after months of owning it and listening to it frequently. So thanks for introducing me to this band Pandora and thanks to Amazon for still carrying reasonably priced CDs that come with .mp3 files too.Ver másVer menos

Found a GEM thanks to Pandora music matching Genius
Honestly never heard of "The 1975" until I started to explore a few band in Pandora.Listening to Foster the People, Empire of the Sun, The Midnight, and others. I was exposed to a few of "The 1975" songs. This led to purchasing a few singles from amazon. Before long i was hooked, I ended up buying the entire album. Its an original sounds, with original lyrics. To my it brings up fond memories of 80s music with the some of the sounds and effects.I personally wouldnt dance to it, but I find it immensely good in my running mp3 player. The 1975 are, and will remain in the front of my Pandora and Amazon music rotations.Ver másVer menos

But oh for the joy of electronic rock!
Discovered this band thanks to an interview broadcast on NPR. If you like indie rock, soulful lyrics and discovering fresh music, download The 1975 NOW. $9.49 is a free price for the joy the songs will bring to your heart as you sit in a grey cube surrounded by fatigued co-workers and dark visions of failure. Lift yourselves up and let the enchantment of Settle Down, Chocolate, Talk, Robbers ensnare you.If you overthink your music by separating chords and synthesizers at each minute, skip this album. You will destroy the beauty The 1975 have put into this collection...this is not a band besotted with maturity. This is simplicity and honesty of music, the yearnings of childhood and struggles of growing up in our world without a # inserted in each sentence. Thank you for sparing us your fans the symbols and the smart talking. Brilliant and please send us over the moon some more boys!Ver másVer menos

I LOVE THIS BAND!!
I generally listen to the same stuff I did 10 years ago because although catchy, a lot of what is out there today doesn't ever really 'catch' me. That's what this band did. I was listening to a Google Music random station and I heard something I liked so I looked and it was this band. I thumbs upped it and moved on. A little later I heard Robbers and had to stop everything I was doing to listen because it completely caught me :) Their sound is like an 80's movie soundtrack with a new spin. The whole album is awesome and I can't wait to hear their next one. I've watched a few videos and interviews on YouTube of them and the lead singer seems to have a really good sense of himself and the band and what they want. I was thoroughly impressed :)Ver másVer menos

Good Fun, Critically or Casually
Finally got to listen to this excellent debut after seeing them perform their single "Chocolate" live on Conan, and I'm glad I didn't just stick to the singles this time, even though their are plenty on the album. In fact, the singles consume the first third of the album, making it easy to jump into. However, anybody who owns the album knows that the real gold is in the rest of the album, showing its face after the first intermission at track 7. Each track is moderately to very mellow, nearly lo-fi, with obvious digital bass and digital effects holding throughout the entire album, but with professional instrumentals well mixed with vocals that left me having eargasms every other track. If you do not like the vocals immediately, I swear you will eventually. Anyway, in my critical listening of the album, I was pleasantly surprised with the subtleties hidden behind the instruments and vocals which were simple to spot at this quality of mixing. Each track has a rich and interesting melody that is unique to the band yet no track sounds the same. My only complaint is with the intro and two intermission pieces. They are pointless. Usually tracks like these are lead-ins to the next song or just interesting instrumental pieces, but they sound like cut-off tracks that never had vocals dubbed. A little confusing, but I won't hold it against such a good and, overall, pretty long album.Moral of the story - This is a fabulous debut, and you would do yourself a disservice by sticking to the singles or ignoring this album.Ver másVer menos

Be prepared to keep it on Repeat
This first full length album by British alternative/indie rock band The 1975 could easily be mistaken as one by a much more experienced band. Rarely is a freshman album this well-produced from start to finish. It took me hours to get through the 50 minute album, because I kept coming across songs that begged to be replayed over and over - I dare you not to dance and/or sing aloud to "Settle Down" and "Girls". Upbeat rock singles that were previously released on EP - Sex, The City, Chocolate - fit perfectly within this full length album. In a time when most songs are purchased individually, it's even more rare to find an album in which every track can be enjoyed - well-worth the purchase of the full album, and be prepared to keep it going on repeat!
