Sony ALCR55 Rear Lens Cap for the Sony Alpha Digital SLR | Envi

Perfect Fit - Same Cap is Included with Other Sony Lenses I Bought
The ALC-R55 rear lens cap is just right for the lenses I use with my Sony A57; it fits perfectly, and it has an easily visible arrow marker to align with the mark on the lens, simplifying attachment. When I had only the kit lens with no rear cap, this was the only protection option I had. Once I had bought another [Sony] lens, an identical rear cap was included with it. Since I tend to keep a lens attached to my camera at all times, this seems to act as a spare, but I should probably separate lenses from the camera when not in use. This is an excellent product, and the price is reasonable.Ver másVer menos

Simple piece of plastic
I purchased some lenses on eBay that amazingly enough don't come with any caps so sourcing out cheap caps was my next option. eBay has some generic caps for $1-2 but you'll have to wait 1-2 months as they come from China. A $3-4 cap from Amazon and a Genuine Sony cap I guess isn't a bad alternative although for a simple piece of plastic you'd imagine they'd be cheaper. All in all in the grand scheme of things this is probably the best buy if you don't want to wait. These caps will fit any A-mount lens regardless of the size of lens or brand such as Tamron, Sony, Minolta, Sigma, etc. Finding the right front lens cap will all vary so a little more challenging and costly.Ver másVer menos

A useful accesory to keep your lenses working smoothly.
The Sony Rear Lens Cap is a good product, although looking it at objectively, it's nothing more than a plastic thing with the name Sony on it.The thing to keep in mind here is that this cap is necessary to protect the mount and contacts of your lenses, which this cap does in an excellent manner, since it's hard enough for the job. It's not made of easy-to-pierce through plastic. There is not much to say about it, it's good for what it does and that's that. The problem I have with Sony and other sellers is that the price for this item varies wildly and sometimes I've seen it priced at 40 dollars, which is a massive rip off for a thing that costs 10 cents to produce. There is also the issue that Sony has been cheating users lately by replacing this cap with those tiny plastic cups you use to pour ketchup in at McDonald's or Burger King on kits of camera and lens. Probably to save on costs and force you to buy one of this, but still, its ridiculous. It should be offered standard for body and lens kits as it used to be 1 year ago.Leaving that aside and focusing on the cap itself, it's good for what it does. Covers your lens' mount, contacts and rear elements, which are important parts of the lens that need to be protected when not in use. If you got Minolta lenses that require this cap, it will also fit on them.Ver másVer menos

Does what it says well
Not much to say about this product. Basically does what it was designed for, to cover the rear of the lens. My only complaint has nothing to do with this product or seller, but with Sony. When you spend $800 or more on a camera and lens package, why would you put on a shipment cover that's like a ketchup container instead of this product that is actually useful in protecting your investment. Besides that little rant, it is a great product and am very pleased with the speedy shipment and fairly high quality of the item.Ver másVer menos

Always use these. If you lose one, replace it.
stock rear lens cap for Sony/Minolta A-mount lenses. Included with your lenses. Made of firm plastic.PRO:-Replacement rear lens cap if you lost one.-protects your lens's rear element from dust, fingerprints, stray hair, dirt, oils, etc.-debris on rear element is immediately visible in photos, unlike debris on front element. If you are going to skip a lens cap, skip the front. Never skip the rear.CON:-it's 1 piece of plastic, so the price is kinda high.-over time, from lots of attachments and removals, the bayonet lugs that attach to the lens might get a little loose. if so, replace the cap.Ver másVer menos

Better than condiment cup
Title says it all. My husband purchased the Sony SLR and I fell in love with the camera. Unpacking it was another story when I found instead of a rear lens cap they had used a "condiment" cup for it. After all the money spent on the camera and having to search for a replacement, I found this one. It took awhile for it to get here. However still worth it. Keeps my lenses safe. It does what it's supposed to.Ver másVer menos

Rear Lens cap.
How much can I really say about a rear lens cap. It does it's job. Sad that they are so hard to find outside of amazon though.

4 Stars Only Because
The only reason this received a four star rating was because in this reviewer's modest opinion, this is the item that should have come with the lens in the first place. It is a bit presumptuous of sony to think that any actual photographer who bought their equipment would be ok with the "ketchup" type rear cap as so many refer to it. Looking beyond that however this product does an excellent job for what it is intended.Ver másVer menos
