Excellent Water Polisher and Long-Term Filtration Support
Seachem Purigen has worked very well in my 30-gallon tank for polishing the water and keeping it looking clean and clear. The improvement in water clarity is noticeable, especially compared to standard mechanical or chemical filtration alone.I like that I can run two units in rotation—one in the tank while the other is being regenerated. That makes it very cost-effective over time since the media can be reused instead of constantly being replaced. They come prepackaged in a mesh bag so all you need to do is put in in the water (ideally in line with the flow to the filter).Overall, it’s a simple but highly effective filtration upgrade that helps maintain consistently clear water with very little ongoing cost or maintenance.Ver másVer menos

It works amazingly fast!!!
Amazing product. Like many customers have said all over the internet, that this product has been working for them and those reviews go back over 10 yrs. I must say this product continues to excel. I used this for my baby red ear cumberland slider. In less than 24 hrs the water went from a tinged color and cloudy to clear and it’s still cleaning my tank. (I didn’t take a before picture sorry) It’s removed all the tannins and my baby seems happier. I already have both an ammonia removing and carbon filters installed, so I put the Purigen bag between both. Instructions say to put the bag at the end of the filtration system where the waterfall section is but since i have the ammonia remover there I securely put the baggy in between both (see picture). I’m still finishing up our baby’s tank. But will add a final picture once I’m done decorating.Update: finished decorating our baby’s tank. Bag keeps working. I’d recommend buy minimum of 2 bags so you can switch them out when recharging the dirty one. It’s also recommended to not use continuously but on and off to let good bacteria grow. I’m glad I discovered this product!My one 5.5g betta tank has a corner where I added some Fluval stratum for some stemmed plants. Even though it’s just in one corner, every time I move anything around, or even if I vacuum the tank, it stirs up the stratum and I end up with a muddy tank.The Seachem Purigen is easy to use. I just get out one of my spare whisper filters, add the mesh pouch of Purigen into the filter compartment with a piece of white filter floss, and put it in the tank and let it run. It clean up my tank so the water was clear again, in a few hours. I keep the filter with Purigen running overnight, then remove it from the tank and lay the bag of Purigen in the dish drainer to dry well.The nice thing is that you can re charge Purigen with bleach. (You can look up the specific instructions online.)I feel my fish is much healthier , not having to breathe in muddy water!Ver másVer menos

Works great to clear yellow water
This cleared up my yellow fish tank water in a few hours. Definitely works. Im glad I stumbled upon this doing a search on how to clean yellow tank water. I only wish I would have e remembered to rinse it first. Now the water is clear, but has a haze to it from the tiny loose particles. I stuffed the bag into a large pill bottle I drilled holes in. I drilled a larger hole in the cap and hooked it up to a small pump. So, as of right now im just sucking water through it and it cleared it up. Seachem Purigen 100 mL is a must-have for any fish tank. It does a great job keeping the water clear and clean by removing waste before it turns into bigger problems. I noticed the tank looked cleaner and fresher after using it.It is also relatively cheap for how effective it is, and a little goes a long way. Great value for the price and easy to use in a filter bag. Highly recommend for anyone who wants better water quality and a healthier-looking aquarium.Ver másVer menos

Great with live plants, excellent regeneration process.
I found the most difficult information to retrieve was if this product works as well when you have a planted tank. I tested myself and I can say that after two weeks my plants still growing without any sign of nutrient deficiency.I really waned to give this product 5 stars. However, I've been told that it does not much more compared to a carbon filter (which I never used so I personally cannot compared). I really like it tho, and I really suggest it to buy if you don't like to mess with carbon filter and replace it every 2-3 weeks.As the product say it absorbs all the organic compound in the water. I have some piece of drift wood in my tank, and the water was starting to get pretty cloudy. I insert the media in the filter and after 12 hours I could see the magical difference. The water got incredibly clear. After a week the nitrogen level went down to zero (I had NO3 at about 15ppm).The down side is that my starting water was pretty cloudy (my fault), and the product absorbed a lot of it. After two weeks the bag looks pretty brown. I think I will have to do the cleaning process pretty soon. I will wait until the bag turn completely brown, or the water start to look cloudy again.The company claim that which 100ml you can use it for up to 100 gallons for about 4 to 6 months. I think is a little bit over estimating the range.I read several review that do not trust the cleaning process using bleach, and then soak it with de-chlorinator, I will update my review once I do a cleaning cycle.Other than that I recommended this product to two of my friend that have nitrogen or cloudy water. And If it was the case I would definitely buy it again.Update 4-8-13: I have the filter in place for almost 2 month, and it still keep the water clear. My tank is currently overstock, and I have no issues at all with water quality. I did not have to replace any filter cartridge. And I have not done the regeneration process.Great product.Update 4-24-13: I was starting to get the water little bit cloudy, so I decided to do the famous regeneration process. As soon as I dip it into the bleach/water solution it turned incredibly white. I let it soak for 24 hours, then took it out and soak in the Prime/water solution for 8 hours. After I took it out it didn't smell like chlorine at all. I wasn't sure so I dip it into some water for a bit, and test the water. Zero chlorine at the end. I place it back in the filter.There are few companies out there that make really good products for aquarium. Seachem is one of the best and one that you can always trust. You get your money worth on any of their products.

Amazing. Crystal clear water in hours.
I'll never own an aquarium without using this. It's crazy how fast this clears up water. Even with 60% water changes once a week (religiously) our 10-gallon tanks were still green/yellow-tinged from wood tannins and plants. Some people like dark waters but I like to see our snails, shrimp and fish.Two tablespoons of this, and the water is crystal clear in 12 hours, but you can see it working within an hour. It doesn't bother the critters at all.It may seem expensive,but this bottle will last our two 10-gallon tanks for at least a year (likely longer). I'll only needs to change out every three-four months. (There are also videos on how to clean it with bleach if you want to take the risk)Ver másVer menos

This stuff is magic and worked exactly how it was supposed to. I kept trying to fix my water hardness, with water changes, distilled water, mopani wood. The tank was healthy, but no matter how much I soaked the wood it still turned my tank brown. This worked in one day.Ver másVer menos

works like magic i have used it for like 2 years now in 2026, i have a bio load of 6 fish in a 60 litre setup with canister filter, ran one pack of 100ml for 9 months straight and tille the last day the water was like crystal clear like as it was on day 1, definately go for it if want crystal clear water in your tank, and one thing, in these 2 years no dead fish in my tank just one death and that was due to jumping out of the tank at night 🤣Ver másVer menos
