Best for student!
This calculator is hands-down the best I have ever had the honor of using. While the TI-84 Plus may not have as much space or as many pre-loaded Apps as the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition, the TI-84 Plus offers everything a high school (possibly some college) math student needs in order to successfully learn and solve mathematics material. The TI-84 Plus comes loaded with several Apps that will make things even more convenient, such as a Probability Simulator and Cabri Jr., a great geometry app. Student looking to upgrade from the TI-83 Plus will find comfort in the fact that the TI-84 Plus is 2.5x faster and has 3x the memory than the TI-83 Plus. The TI-84 Plus is also extremely easy to hook up to your computer to transfer new Apps and updates to it using the USB port and the included USB cable. The TI-84 Plus will be a great investment for any student's education.I didn't want to purchase such a high cost calculator when there are much cheaper work arounds. However, for kids in school, college or taking college tests like SAT and ACT--this calculator is allowed to be used (as is the model below it. So, i bit the dust and purchased it.It works great. It is the standard used in schools so my daughter learned how to use and and can get help on it.The biggest thing is that most of the kids have these and many look alike so you need to mark it well to show it is yours and reduce the chance of theft. this of course isn't TI's fault--but it is good to know.The ti 84+ (this model) has mathprint (stacked fractions and symbols) and a USB cable. TI-83 doesn't have this. Also, i understand that this is faster than the 83. The silver edition os TI 84+ has spreadsheets and SAT/ACT test prep included. That may make it worth the increased price, but I didn't know that until I had already purchased this one.The Memory ROM/RAM between the models are:160K/24K on TI83480K/24K on TI84 Plus1.5 MB/24K on TI 84 + Silver addition (again making the silver addition probably the better value)Ver másVer menos

After my daughter informed me she'd be taking Calculus next year, I decided to pull the trigger on the TI-84. She had borrowed a friend's TI-89 all this year for Pre-Calculus and said her teacher has the TI-84 so that it would definitely be a good choice and a little less expensive. (*It's my understanding that unless the student is going on into Engineering or similar, the TI-89 is probably overkill.)On the package it doesn't say it's for Calculus, but after reading the Amazon Q&A, I'm confident this will work for her needs. The package I received indicates the calculator was manufactured on 12/05/14 (found at the bottom of the package). It also says 'Permitted on Testing: SAT/ACT/AP' on the box, as well as USB included and preloaded software. **Preloaded apps for: Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, Statistics, Biology, Physics and Business & Finance. The calculator ships with AAA batteries so it's ready to go within minutes of unpackaging the item.Assuming it works as expected for her SATs this spring and Calculus next year, I'll be happy. Of course I'm hoping that it will carry her through college too. I do think the price on this item is high, but so is the functionality and resale value. I wish there was some consistency with the packaging of this item, but that could vary based upon the seller (Marketplace or Amazon). FYI... I purchased one sold by Amazon, and the photos are of the actual item.This calculator should be an all-in-one solution for math and science classes from middle school through college. Especially good if your child is planning on taking honors or AP classes, SATs or looking at continuing on to college.Ver másVer menos

perfect calculator
This TI product is excellent! I bought it as a gift for my daughter, and she absolutely loves it. As a high school student, she needs it for her learning, and it’s been incredibly helpful for her classes. Idc what class I’m taking, I am not spending 100 plus on a calculator lol. If you’re lucky, save your friends/family money by letting them use it once you’re done with it
