Fantastic Pencils for Young Kids. Easier on Little Hands and Fingers
Ticonderoga are the best pencils. They also smell like heaven. I like these larger 13/32 inch pencils for my three kids 6 years-old and under because little kids learning to write tend to grip and press hard. Normal pencils are difficult for them to grip properly and when they press hard, it hurts their hands. The thick lead also holds up to kids pressing hard and being rough with their things.They usually come in 2 or 4 packs in local stores. I was only able to find a larger 12-pack of these pencils on Amazon. Pair them with the X-acto School Pro electric pencil sharpener that can sharpen just about any size pencil, and you'll be all set for the rest of your kids' school career.Ver másVer menos

Great pencils, be careful on price and availability
These pencils are great for anyone who has trouble with skinnier pencils, whether you're a kid with fine motor skill issues or an adult (like me) with fine motor skills issues.I like the thick barrel because it makes it easier for me to write longer, more comfortably. You could probably also use those rubber sleeves around standard pencils, but I like the thicker pencils: they're more gratifying to use and more aesthetically pleasing.The thicker round barrel means less irritation on the "pencil callus", which is the clincher for me. If I'm writing with a pencil, it's going to be one of these.What was more, they used to be pretty easy to get down at the local big-box office supply store you could get a box or two of these for $3 or so each (IIRC). Then, they stopped stocking them at the local store; when I checked that other company's website it appeared that you could only buy them online. So, over to Amazon to see my other options.I bought these, six dozen of them, for quite cheap (a bit more than $2/dozen for six boxes), plus free shipping from Amazon. Today, though, the price is about 50% more than what I paid at Amazon, and a similar pencil (Ticonderoga "My First Pencil", same size but with different name on the barrel of the pencil) now are being sold for $5 and up (and "up" means as much as $11 or more, for just one dozen).So, if you like these pencils--look for a good deal and if you find them, BUY THEM! FWIW, Amazon still has the best prices I could find, and if you use standard (free) shipping, that can make the difference between paying $0.20-0.30 per pencil or $1.00 or more per pencil.Ver másVer menos

As a teacher in NYC Public Schools, I was plagued with "the pencil problem!" That is, every year the kid's pencils were consuming so much time with sharpening and losing pencils that one year I actually assessed the amount of time lost with this process and found out that it was hours which mounted up to a few days a year of wasted time sharpening pencils!Something had to be done!I devised a system whereby I sharpened everything before class, wrapped each pencil in velcro and attached to the student's desk. Presto, no more problem with the loss of pencils and the constant pencil sharpening because I sharpened at least two of the pencils and more for the kids daily.BUT, I didn't know the REAL secret solution to "the pencil problem!" Finally one day, I happened to see one of my dear colleague's supply list which stated specifically TICONDEROGA pencils ONLY! "TICONDEROGA?" I asked, "They are the only ones I accept." responded my friend."Ah ha!" I thought, I found the answer to my problems!And, honestly, that is how I learned that TICONDEROGA pencils DON'T break and cause a lot of less problems in the classroom. So from then on I went with TICONDEROGA every year and would not allow any other pencils in my classroom. Great pencils for kindergarteners
Bought these pencils for my son who is in kindergarten. I love that there's little to no breakage with these pencils unlike with others that break when you press too hard. This is especially great for kids that are beginning to write since they are learning to get used to how to hold the pencil and write. My son would often press too hard when he started writing ✍ and the tips on these pencils didn't break. Now he has pencils that he has won in class that have fun designs and he wants to use them but they break way too easily. These are really worth it, the first 2 pencils that we took out are still being used after more than half of the school year has passedVer másVer menos

Great for writer's cramps!
I bought these to prepare for and use during my GRE (on scratch paper), since it doesn't allow mechanical pencils. I found that they are about twice as large (in circumference) as a standard #2 pencil, with correspondingly large lead and erasers. The big unexpected benefit is that they require less force to hold because of their size, so I found that I didn't get as tired when using them! It also is fun to feel like a kid again, as they do look a bit cartoonishly large.Pros:-Can be used on standardized tests, both for bubble-filling and for scratch paper (at least for GRE/GMAT/LSAT/MCAT)-Large size is easier to hold, meaning reduced cramps from long periods of use-Eraser is about twice the size of a standard #2 pencil-Round shape has fewer stress points than the hexagonal pencils, so writing for a long time doesn't cause pain from pressureCons:-Because lead is larger, and I prefer to use a very sharp pencil, there is more wasted lead-Might not fit in some standard sharpenersI do love mechanical pencils, but if you have to have a #2, this is definitely the way to go!Ver másVer menos

Great for toddlers
These are great for toddlers! I homeschool my kids and we've been using creations which don't always show up or thick dry erase markers. These make things so much easier because now everyone has the same and it is just a regular pencil you can see, but still nice and chunky for their small hands. Comfortable
This is good for my 4 y/o daughter's tiny hand. Its comfortable to hold. She can grip it perfectly which helps in writing nicely.

Great for little hands. Good to use when kids are learning to write.
I like how thick the pencil is, good for little hands to grip. It writes smooth and dark shade of pencil. Good buy!

Worth it for beginning writers.
The larger grip is totally worth it for little hands beginning to learn to write. Easy to write with and also important is they sharpen very well. We use sharpener included in the 4 pack or a Staedtler one.

Comfortable pencil: happy hands!
I love this pencil; it's a good grip for writing quick notes AND has an awesome eraser. The ONLY I wish is that it came with a sharpener. Hubby had to sharpen it with a knife and it kinda looks like it got chewed by a beaver!.
