Nightwing Vol. 1: Leaping into the Light | Envi

A new series I will be reading…☺️
This comic centers around Dick Grayson (a.k.a Nightwing) getting adjusted to life after a particular life altering incident within the Bat family.Just as things are about to get better, a mysterious villain known as Heartless is going out killing and collecting the hearts of his victims. On top of that, a newly appointed mayor bears the same last name as the man who murdered his parents. After much research and feedback, this was my first Nightwing comic that was to be read and I wasn’t disappointed.First off, the art in this comic was just beautiful! I just felt like all the characters (particularly in the Batfamily, though other DC characters too) looked how I imagined them to over the years in various parts of the media.I also enjoyed the fact that this comic truly felt like Dick/Nightwing’s comic rather than it just being a comic with the Nightwing name but more so about Batman. With that being, references to other characters in Dick’s perspective is just so astounding to me simply because despite him and Bruce Wayne (or the other Batfam members) having similar backgrounds in one way or another, they are different individuals. Hence, Dick Grayson is someone who respects Batman’s moral code and what he does for Gotham but still wants to be more active in those he works with as a vigilante whether it be cops, victims, or others. The only bummer about this comic was that it could end before some of my questions could be answered. Nevertheless, that’s why I’ll be reading the part in this series soon.Ver másVer menos

My favorite Nightwing title in a long time!
Nightwing has been my favorite superhero for most of my life. I was so sad to have to give up on the series during the Dan Jurgen run, but it was too heartbreaking to see the character so poorly handled. I was hesitant to try again when I heard a new creative team was taking over, but I'm so glad I gave it a chance! Tom Taylor understands Dick Grayson better than most DC writers since the original Chuck Dixon series. This volume includes the complete "Leaping Into The Light" story arc, which was a sort of soft reboot for the series. The very first issue of it already feels like a breath of fresh air and the beginning of a new era. And the story continues to build over the next several issues as Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon (who is also better in this series than I've seen her written in a VERY long time) navigate through their uncertain future. Without spoiling anything, the main focus of this first story arc is on Dick coming to terms with his recent inheritance and trying to figure out what sort of impact he wants to have on Bludhaven. It reintroduces classic Nightwing villain Blockbuster as well as introducing a few new enemies. And there's an adorable puppy - so what more could you want?Having already collected the single issues, the main thing that prompted me to also invest in this lovely hardcover edition was definitely the art. I can't possibly express just how utterly gorgeous the art in this series is. Bruno Redondo does a fantastic job with every panel, and he makes the characters so expressive you barely even need the dialogue to follow along the story. I don't know who the colorist was for this volume, but they also did an amazing job. The sunsets and cityscapes are so breathtaking; I've never seen Bludhaven drawn to look so quiet and soft before, but I like it.TLDR: I highly recommend this volume! The story is great, the art is beautiful, and Taylor does a great job of getting these characters back to basics. It's certain to be a favorite for Nightwing fans, but I'd also recommend the book to anyone who is just now looking to get into the series. As it serves as a sort of reboot for the story, it's the perfect jumping on board spot for anyone who doesn't want to have to catch up on the previous decades of Nightwing comics.Ver másVer menos

I am not a big comic book guy... until now. I came across this on accident and saw i could read for free on kindle. Gave it a shot on a whim and read the entire volume in one sitting. Fantastic. Can't wait to read the next volumes. The art, the story, all great.Ver másVer menos

Nightwing, a good read! Always!
Nightwing: Leaping into the Light is another great collection of the best selling Nightwing comic series. Dick Grayson has truly become his own hero. Successfully stepping out of the Batman’s shadow. He’s as smart as his mentor, his ethics and methods are strong. He may not always win but he never gives up.Recommended for all Batman/Robin fans!Ver másVer menos

Huh, Different
I have been an original Robin fan for most of my life, but the idea that Dick Grayson went on to become Nightwing through later cartoons. I never really bought comics as a young person, so buying them now is a splurge. I like how the frames are colored and the story is interesting. Now I just have to figure out how Dick was shot and other background info.Ver másVer menos

This is dick grayson
Tom Taylor just gets Dick, and Bruno Redondo’s art makes every page look incredible. I love how fun the whole thing is while still giving us great action, Blüdhaven, Barbara, the Bat-Family and of course Haley. This is just Nightwing being Nightwing, and honestly I couldn’t ask for much more.Ver másVer menos

arte e historia sorprendentes

With both the art and the story telling you can’t go wrong with this book. It brings Grayson back to basics with him in Bludhaven and he is even joined by members of the bat-family throughout. If you like Nightwing or are a sucker for good comic art, I would suggest picking this one upVer másVer menos
