Every American needs to read this book!
Thank you, Eric Metaxas, for writing this incredible overview of our nation’s miraculous founding and the faithful, courageous men, women, and families that understood God’s calling, sacrificed so much, and fought so mightily for its birth and beginning. This is true history! You remind us that we owe everything to our great God and Savior - and to so many, known and unknown, for the precious freedoms that we enjoy.This book is the best one volume telling of the centrality of our Sovereign God and His divine Providence in our founding that I have ever read. The amazing life stories of Samuel Adams, John Adams, Joseph Warren, Henry Knox, George Washington, and countless others are thrilling to read and motive me to be a better man, Christian, and citizen. This account of the steadfast persistence of our founders in calling all colonists to fasting, thanksgiving, and prayer many times during those tumultuous days is stirring and humbling. The many miracles of God described in this volume are breathtaking and moving. This volume is a compelling call for Americans, and especially Christians, to recognize the critical moment in which we find ourselves and to respond with courage, conviction, and wisdom.What I appreciate most about this book (and his other writings as well) is his ability to connect history, faith, and events in a way that is accessible and deeply thought-provoking. Drawing from historical examples, he demonstrates that freedom is never guaranteed and that ordinary people have often been called upon to stand for truth during extraordinary times.Whether or not readers agree with every conclusion, Revolution challenges complacency and encourages thoughtful engagement with the issues shaping our culture. Excellently researched and entertaining account of America's Revolution
Eric Metaxas has written a well-researched and entertaining history of America's founding. He tells the story of the Revolution with detailed, stories of the men and circumstances that make events come to life in a relatable way. There is so much more to this book than what I was taught in public school as a child. And sadly, today's kids are being fed propaganda rather than a true historical account of America's founding. Great Book!!
I was so excited when I learned that this was Eric Metaxas's latest project. I think I now own every book that he has written. On the eve of America's 250th birthday, this book is incredibly timely. If you want to understand the actual roots of American freedom and remember why that freedom is worth protecting, this book is essential. It’s a great reminder that our liberty is a fragile gift, and we can’t protect what we don’t bother to understand.Not gonna lie, the book is long. But it's not a sermon or lecture - it's the story of how our country came to be, told with energy and detail. Very little in our culture today encourages Americans to understand what was achieved in 1776, much less take pride in it. Metaxas reminds readers that the American story is not one of perfection. It is the story of an imperfect people who created something extraordinary. A nation that forgets how it was founded will eventually lose what made it worth preserving in the first place. At its heart, this book is a reminder that our inheritance is real, worth defending, and that Americans should not be ashamed of it. Metaxas unapologetically places the American founding and the principles that animated it back at the center of the story. Americans - be proud of our forefathers and this country! Simply Amazing!
I currently reading Revolution by Eric Metaxas, and I can honestly say it is an amazing book. I highly recommend that everyone get their hands on a copy and read it. Metaxas has a remarkable ability to present complex historical events in a simple, engaging, and easy-to-understand way. His writing keeps the reader interested while clearly explaining the ideas and events that shaped our nation.One of the greatest strengths of this book is how it highlights the profound impact that American history has on our lives today. Metaxas reminds readers of the sacrifices, principles, and convictions that helped establish the freedoms and liberties we often take for granted. A Very Timely Read!
Eric Metaxas does his research! He also has a great sense of humor. "Revolution" - The Birth of the Greatest Nation in the History of the World, is this very prolific author's best yet! The book has 44 chapters plus some 16 or so pages of color photographs, one intro., and one epilogue, where each chapter is like a little very readable story of people and events concerning the lives and times of the American Revolution you thought you knew all about. Turns out you certainly don't, and Metaxas fills in beaucoup de numerous facts and funnies that you'll happily consider and contemplate over and over again. Eric M's untold and/or unknown accounts show how amazing it is that the America that eventually came to be actually hatched from kissing cousins. You will enjoy this Supercentennial read that's alread on the N.Y. Times Bestsellers list. I also plan to purchase the audio version because I cannot wait to hear the engaging Metaxas pour out what he's put in to this extraordinarily momentous historic nonfiction.Ver másVer menos

Our Country's Founders Come Alive in this Well-Written, Truthful American History Book!
Eric Metaxas' new book is well written, thoroughly researched, and a comprehensive United States revolutionary period history book that is exciting to read. Our courageous founders come alive. I find myself laughing, crying, and cheering as I read it--I love it! I not only bought the hardcover book, but I was eager to read through it faster, so I bought the audio book as well, which Eric reads (an added bonus to listen to the actual author).Eric Metaxas' books are some of the best I have read over the last decade.
