Great product
This is an excellent addition to my library. I see others said that their kids loved these books. I am not too sure about that. Sure they are great books. But have an adult theme. For instance the first book "Mrs Rosie and the Priest" is a nice story but unless you want Junior developing a more advanced vocabulary in which "cuckold, pimps, prostitutes" feature prominently I would suggest vetting a little bit.No complaints.By the way, as a response to other buyers who complained about their packages being all dinged up, the seller sent mine wrapped tighter than a mummy's knickers (see? vocabulary), and the soft fluff inside flew all over my yard and now it looks like dadgum Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in February (I am in Nairobi in September)Ta, and all thatVer másVer menos

Beautiful Collection
Super awesome purchase- excellent selection and fantastic price. You can’t really go wrong with this set! The shipping did take about two weeks for mine, but I’m not sure how usual that is. The books are in great condition!

This is my dream box set. Waiting for it to arrive in Thailand had me so nervous, but it arrived safely and in perfect condition. I’m absolutely thrilled with it.

I had been looking at this set for a few years now, and finally caved in getting it as it was on sale. And it’s exactly as mentioned! I do not believe the books contain “all” of the content that is in each original novel, they seem far too thin to contain everything BUT i do believe they contain the general premises. I have yet to read them, but just by skimming a few I’m certain they contain a “summary” of the story but in the “original” format if that makes any sense.Definitely would give it a chance if you’re looking to expand your at-home library, give a book lover as a gift, or to have a nice stack of classics to read a day (they’re short, each approx 50 pages).The only reason I knocked off a star is the way it was packaged. Although it was nicely wrapped (no damages) , the packaging contained a TON of fiberglass that I as an asthmatic, was not prepared for upon opening it. Now I have fiberglass all over my bed and unfortunately will have to throw my sheets away. I don’t think it’s the seller’s fault (I’m not sure how Amazon shipping works coming from different sellers), but i would be weary when opening the box. Maybe open it outside, with a mask on, and something over your clothes to protect them and discard afterwards.Anyways, despite that, I would definitely recommend this product still.Ver másVer menos

Excellent selection, accessible format
The books came (from India) in a timely manner and undamaged. All the volumes were there. The selection of readings is wonderfully varied, from Western classics to Eastern dynastic poetry. The selected excerpts are well chosen not only to represent the author but also as worthy readings in their own right. Penguin translations are always first-rate, and these volumes are no exception. If you are looking for an introduction to basic literacy, this is a good start.Ver másVer menos

Best impulsive shopping ever.
I started looking for one book and bought the whole box set instead. And I have to say that I am just delighted at the mere sight of this wonderful collection of 80 different types of works of 80 well-known authors. I was a little skeptical because the reviews on Amazon.com, but i must that, my experience has been entirely different.1. I received properly packed, not-at-all torn from any side box set.2. The quality of books is great. The size, as apparent from the dimension of independent books, is a little smaller, as justified by the name 'little black classic', than that of the usual Penguin Classics.3. All books are for keeps. This is one of my best purchases ever. Even though some titles may not interest me right now, I am still looking forward to exploring each one of them, as rest assured, these are all acclaimed works and loved by a variety of people across the world.So, I've attached a few screenshots that give you an idea about1.
