Strong highlight in the overdone superhero department
Excellent. I'm not a fan of superhero or comic book media in general just because they don't interest me much, but this was a great watch. A slightly unconventional take on the format with incredibly fun and memorable characters, great acting, the script efficiently balances drama with realistic heart string pulls and comedy with constant good jokes (non-PG), the cinematography and colours and alien designs (many of which are practical effects)... Not some cinematic masterpiece, but an overall fun and worthy time. Milly as Supergirl shined with her persona, Even as Ruthye did that role well without being annoying as it tends to be, Jason as the wild card Lobo was lots of fun and Matthias as Krem was unique and fun, though not a high stature of a villain really. The ending could've been a bit longer to flesh it out some more, but it was alright.The "chuds" and whatever they're whining about are completely invalid. I'm tired of them. I absolutely loved it.
As of this writing, July 15, 2026, I have thrice seen Supergirl in the theatre. I love it. It's another one of those movies that received a lot of weird hate before it was ever released, but the reality is that it's a fine movie, a fine movie.No film is perfect, of course, and I have a couple of small quibbles with the film, but to have willingly gone and paid to see it three times should tell you how much I enjoyed it.Milly Alcock is the title character of Supergirl/Kara Zor-el, and we follow her journey with Eve Ridley's Ruthye as they travel across the galaxy in search of an end to their respective traumas.Kara Zor-el really resonated with me, so 10/10, highly recommend.Ver másVer menos

Great movie and don’t listen to the haters!
While I obviously haven’t got my copy of this movie, I’ve seen it in the theaters a couple of times and loved it! While I was disappointed that there’s no end credit scene, oh and that Krypto was Superman’s dog in the old cartoons. However I liked that it was slightly darker and Milly Alcock as Supergirl was awesome! I would recommend watching it on the it screen (saw it twice on IMAX)! Don’t listen to the haters! As a film critic and film historian, I enjoyed it! Jason Momoa was funny as Lobo and hopefully they give him his own origin movie! 🤞🏻Ver másVer menos

Better than they say
Obviously I don’t have the physical copy yet, but I will buy it. Here’s the truth about this movie:Is it flawed? Yes. But for what it is, and what it’s trying to be, it’s an 8/10.Compared to James Gunn’s Superman, it’s much more adult oriented, darker and grittier. It deals with heavier themes. It also has a lot more action and fighting. The soundtrack is awesome (lots of needle drops). The performances are all great (whether you agree with the casting or not). And it’s mostly true to the graphic novel it’s based on (Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow). There are some deviations from the source material, some I actually like, and some they did to condense the story and it wasn’t for the better… like taking away the villain’s backstory and motivation.The flaws are that. The villain is just a generic, white, Russian-accented bad guy who’s evil for no reason (Superman also had one of these). He’s a space pirate so whatever it works, but it’s very 2-dimensional. There’s a little bit of sparse, clunky dialog & mediocre writing. And a tiny bit of weak CGI. Considering how much of this movie is CGI, and most of it being good, it’s not so bad it ruins the movie, but yeah there’s some scenes it’s at least noticeable. Milly Alcock is not my first choice for the role, but I think she nails the performance and I have zero complaints other than she just wouldn’t be my first choice. I also am old enough to remember when they used real animals in movies so seeing a CGI dog doing regular dog things seems silly, they should’ve cast a real dog as Krypto and used CGI when he’s doing things you can’t train a dog to do.Over all I had a lot of fun watching the movie, far more than I expected to based on the reviews. And I actually saw it a second time (I have an unlimited cinema subscription) and still liked it. All the hate is manufactured. This isn’t the 1989 Batman or LOGAN… but it’s pretty good.Ver másVer menos

Good Worldbuilding, Good character Building, Good Movie.
I really liked this movie. For context, I'm a Christian Conservative Father and I'm the exact person the grifters say will hate this movie.But I didn't, I loved it. More amazing worldbuilding for the DCU. Character building for Supergirl almost as good as Peacemaker.Can't wait to see more of her in this universe! Don't let grifters talk you out of enjoying this movie!!Ver másVer menos

I just had to
Obviously, I haven’t bought the steel book for this film yet, but I just wanna let everyone know not that it really matters. Supergirl wasn’t that bad wasn’t Morbius bad it wasn’t the Marvel’s bad in my opinion. It’s a solid C minus to a flat C. And this is coming from From, a guy who has never read the source Material of any Supergirl comic book issues so I totally understand if everybody who read or has a understanding of the best Supergirl comic book I’ve been hearing over and over, a woman of tomorrow, and this movie is what they got. I do feel bad, but I didn’t really think it was that bad very cliché movie but I thought it was OK.Ver másVer menos
